maybe the new Wich Wich? maybe both. Why? Here you also can build enchiladas your way with extensive choices of tortillas, fillings and sauces. You start filling your own order on printed cards with all the options, pay and then they will call you to pick it up. I order my first one with corn tortilla, carnitas (pork meat)and Chipotle cream, my second one was on Blue corn tortilla, with chicken tinga (marinated chicken breast) and covered with poblano sauce. When you order is ready they call your name and you can add toppings such as tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro, jalapeños, onion, you named. Sides are good, beans or rice. I paid $10 per two enchiladas, a side of Mexican rice and a drink. Casual, fun and really taste is a great addition to the Bishop Arts District at 202 West Davis. From the creators of Monica aqui y alla, this is a new fast-casual concept where enchiladas are made your way with fresh, natural, and organic products. Great concept, great flavors. Probably Mc Donald's is already thinking in buying this concept as well. Let's wait.

Salvadorian food, what a great surprise

Not knowing that much about Salvadorian cousine, I stop by Mario Sabino's, 5404 at Lemmon Ave, very simple decor, with a nice patio and a really "happy" staff, it most be because of the music they were playing. I ordered the sampler plate: Pupusas filed with cheese and a special salad on top, a delicious tamal filled with chicken and potatoes, chicahrron, black beans, sweet fried plantains and rice with black beans. Oh Lord, it was delicious, a real party in your moth, different flavors, interesting mixes and no, it doesn't taste like a mexican food, which by the way they offered as well, and I need to tell you that the salsas are really good.

Tacos El Güero - the real thing

I have been living in Dallas for more than 12 years and I just find out this place courtesy of my colleagues. For my surprise, those are the real tacos, nothing but great ingredients, and no Tex-Mex seasoning. I had Steak, Suadero (skirt), tripa, cabeza and lengua (I'm not going to translate them so keep want it to try). Also you can ask for chorizo, pastor and a combination. Very important component: the tortillas, the right size (small) and texture. And the salsas are a hit. You also can ask for a torta of any of the meats or "gringas", flour tortilla, meat, cheese and other tortilla on top.

Jorge's Tex-Mex

Yes an other one, but this one offers a bit different dishes in their menu, like chile relleno, fried chicken taco and a tostada, but more important, taste great, and the place is neat. Jorge's is located at the street level on the Arts One Plaza building, home of 7-Eleven and one block from the brand new Opera House and the Wyly theatre which make a very convenient stop before the show. What is great is the seating area on the patio, so if the weather is on your side, try it, is cool, nice and with a relax atmosphere, ideal for some drinks.

La Cubanita, not really.
Everybody has a cubanita in their mind isn’t it? Well in this case you can eat it. Nice place in McKinney street part of the group that owns, La Taverna, Sangria and Toulouse, but in my opinion the least fortunate. Food is just OK, the place is cool and the service good. This time I had the Lechón asado, baby pork, a bit dry, with rice and black beans combination, fry sweet plantains and boiled vegetables (really bad). In the past I tried the Sandwich cubano and it was good. I ordered something fun as appetizer, Cuban Cigars; my friends, please take it out of the menu, it’s a chicken fried taco with guacamole. Until I understand that is one of the most typical Mexican dish, they don’t know tortillas in Cuba, neither tacos, or guacamole is almost as incomprehensive as the fact that Fidel still alive.
In the pictures, other dishes ordered in the table: Churrasco with Chimichurri (it wasn’t Argentinean?), Shrimp and avocado salad and Ropa Vieja.
Cremona still alive

After the old place went to fire not long time ago, Cremona reopen their doors at a new location, where Orleans Restaurant use to be, right in front of the Quadrangle building. Nice and cozy place, great service but specially great pasta and for those with “angry decease” like mine, I have a great news, the proportions are big at a fair price.
I had Rigatoni al pesto with shrimps, delicious; you now, sometimes pesto can be overwhelming but in this case and with help of a garlic bread, it was just perfect. OK, if you already feel guilty, don’t worry you will get a house salad before, I ordered with ranch dressing so I still feel guilty. Not really.
The picture? the special of the day, Chicken with fetucini Alfredo.

Stephan Pyles under $15?

Yes, it's possible and delicious. Sounds fancy and it is but you don't need to empty your wallet to enjoy it. Go at lunch time, burgers are to die for. Cooked they way you want, enjoy a delicious and juicy meat waiting for you with your selection of cheese and side: fries or onion rings. Giant Jalapeño pepper on the side and great service complete the scene. I paid $15 and I end it up so full I went to bed with out having dinner. Think about it: by having lunch at a fancy restaurant can actually save you money.

Fuel City

What makes a real taco, real? The tortilla and the salsa. Fuel Station has a great tortillas and 5 fillings to choose from, picadillo, beef fajitas, chicken fajitas, pastor and barbacoa. At the end all taste the same but in a good way, the soft tortillas and the lack of cumin make them mexican tacos, for real. They also offer breakfast tacos. But to make it more real, you need to know that there is no tables or chairs to enjoy them, as a manner of fact they sale it inside a gas station but its worth to try. The address is 801 S Industrial Blvd. Finally they claim to be the best tacos in Texas and the attendants proudly wear a t-shirt that says "as you seen in CNN". Try it yourself.

Stoneleigh P

A restaurant at a Pharmacy? well not exactly, this legendary restaurant in Dallas is located on an old pharmacy place, that explains the "P" such as the cabinets around, the delicious burgers, a variety of tasty wines and beers explain why this restaurant has been a point of encounter since the '70s. If this is not enough to makes you try, let me give you an advice, don't even bother you asking for Ketchup or french fries, they simply don't believe on that.

La Jaivita.
Weird, I always wrote Jaibita with b. Anyway, this Mexican seafood oasis in the middle of Harry Hines is well worth the drive. I won't discuss the amazing cocktails: vuelve a la vida, shrimp or ceviche, nor the ice cold beers or the crazy sea food nachos. The mood is the thing. Starting with the music and the waiting staff, they greet you with an wide smile. And if you want to play Don Juan with the waitress, you might be up for a surprise, if not ask Fito. I will not reccomend you to try it, I am going back as soon as I can. Preferebly after some heavy drinking the night before.
